what other toys are there besides the stuffed toys?

Oswaldo Rayburn: take it to the hospital

Melvin Nakama: we have a dog that's half chihuahua, and she barks a lot too... I guess it's just something the breed does.. Gets kinda annoying after a while though...

Bruno Galasso: There are lots of ball-type toys, and kongs, my husky would even throw a nylabone around the living room playing with it (LOL).There are plastic/rubber toys, rope toys (although I'd be on the fence about the rope toys being OK due to your dog's specific allergy).Head over to your local pet store and walk down the toy aisle!...Show more

Alden Sabio: Bassets/bulldogs/mastiffs have a tendency to develop yeast infections there. If it is red and inflammed you should take him to the vet. They can develop a bacterial component and need oral antibiotics. I knew one who even developed a resistant staph. infection there which can transfer to family members. For maintainence in the future you can use dog ear cleaners with a drying agent in it on! ce a day to prevent. (preferably with ketoconazole in it) you can use topical foot powder for athletes foot. Not exactly the same thing but both are fungi so can be treated similarly. Just keep clean and dry until you can get him in to the vet, and in the future to prevent....Show more

Jesse Japak: Balls, a frisbee, a rope chew, rawhide bone/shoe etc, a pig's ear. Dogs love anything they can chew or chase and it's even better when the stuffing doesn't go all over your floor.

Christy Tirabassi: I have a two month old chihuahua(bought him recently) and he barks a lot. Nobody is taking care of him when I'm not home.He barks even when I'm sitting next to him on the computer so I'd either have to let him out of his box or hold him. I came home today and he was barking a lot in high pitch so I fed it some food and he just went to sleep. I don't know if he just want something to eat or he wants more attention.

Jestine Osumi: my bro thinks my dog might be getting ! cancer but im not sure. he is a bichon frise. he said the he! s getting slower and hes having trouble walking down the stairs. i've been seeing it too. he also has a couple of lumps like on his chest and stomach. we are taking him to the vet in a month or 2 for a scheduled apointment and well ask the vet then. btw he is 5. please respond. and my bro pretends he knows everything too...Show more

Cherry Stampka: Hmm lumps definently get that checked out as soon as possible most likely there tumors its has happened to my family dog and she died at age 4 of having tumors/ lumps but it could just be nothing hope he gets better never fun when your dog is sick good luck

Shamika Schools: i've got been given a style of canvas closet storage issues with 6-7 booths in it.i've got been provided that for like $15.00 at walmart., after which went to the dollar save and offered 6-7 little plastic baskets for a dollar each and every, then i regarded after all of my little boys toys, and placed a million basket in each and every compartme! nt. and now as a substitute of each and every of the toys being precise out the place he could make a multitude with each and every thing purely to be playing with a million or 2 issues, we pull a million basket out at a time, whilst he's complete playing with that, we placed it back and pull out yet another.. it has helped in keeping his room advantageous and neat, and he enjoys enjoying plenty extra because of the fact he's conscious the place each and every thing is....Show more

Stephnie Patout: DO NOT WAIT THAT LONG! Better be safe then sorry! At LEAST call his vet, if not take him tomorrow. If you notice things like that, you need to talk to the vet as soon as possible!

Malcom Fenoff: You call your vet.

Delphine Cajka: my basset hound has really red irritated skin in between his toes how should i go about treating this?

Somer Distilo: Dogs love stuffed toys, I don't see why it's dangerous, unless the toy has beads or such inside that the dog can! swallow.Anyway, there are TONS of toys on the market. There are Kong t! oys that you stuff food in you they have to chew/lick/roll it around so they get the treats. There are ropes, tough rubber toys, and bones. Just go to the pet store and see!...Show more

Justin Casten: Yes he does want attention but in order to ever get your dog to stop that you have to stop reinforcing it. Hes learning that when he barks you pet him, hold him, feed him. These are all rewarding his behavior. It takes a while to work on it but look up some good sites heres some tips http://dogs.about.com/od/dogtraining/qt/barkingdog... or maybe get a trainer. Good luck with your little guy!

Rodrigo Pezley: Maybe he just doesn't like being kept in a box. We kept our pups in a baby pen and they liked it but we also let them run free when home. He'll grow out of it, he's just a baby. I don't suggest ignoring it though, as that'll lead to him becoming unattached and that's the worst possible thing.

Tijuana Tatsak: why I am taking the stuffed toys way is becaus! e Duke is allergic to dander and stuffed toys can get dander on them.

Alberto Kozub: This is a fairly common problem with the Basset. It's probably a yeast infection, so the best advice I can give you is to get it looked at by your vet who may give you a spray (as mine did recently) called Cortavance. This is a cutaneous spray solution which can help 'inflammatory and puritic dermatoses in dogs' (it says on the box) Alternatively they may suggest you use a well-known shampoo for conditions like this in the breed, called Malaseb. Or of course, other similar treatment!...Show more

Lavelle Viveiros: I wouldn't wait that long. Take him as soon as possible. He most likely does. Research into it a little more. See if your local pet store has any products that could help, in the meantime.

Irvin Guiles: At Safeway, you can get a squeeky ball that is in animal shapes. They are basically balls with little nubs for legs, tails, and a head. My dog loves this thi! ng- he sits there and chews on it all the time, he hasn't destroyed it ! yet- he has had it for 4 months.~~

Brice Greczkowski: http://www.dogtoys.com/unstuffed-or-mostly-stuffle...Thur yeh be :)

Marcel Then: You are waiting a month or 2 to take your dog to the vet and you are afraid he may have cancer? Why are you waiting? A lot can happen in a month or 2 to a dog with cancer.

Gertrude Darke: http://www.kongcompany.com/worlds_best.html

Burt Cheevers: You don't wait for two months to ask the vet - you take him NOW! Or at least call your vet and ask if he can see him sooner. If it is a malignancy, time is of the essence. But it could be any number of other problems that may be easily fixed. At any rate, your dog is likely in pain and very uncomfortable. Don't allow him to suffer. Get him to the vet tomorrow!...Show more

Pamela Meno: my dogs favorite toy is called the dog tornado. interactive dog toys are the best

Norris Rosener: Go to the store and check it out. They make hundreds of toys. My dog destroys an! ything stuffed, so he has rubber bones, ropes, balls, lots of stuff.Edit to add, I have heard you shouldn't give your dog stuffed animals marketed for children, but I see no reason not to give him ones made specifically for dogs.

Elissa Curlin: Kongs are good. My little 20 pound mutt loves her Kong. In the past 5 years I had to replace it 2 times because she has worn them down so much that they eventually fall apart. But 2 in 5 years is a great deal considering all the enjoyment she gets. I stuff some treats in it and then fill it with peanut butter. Freeze it and it keeps her happy for quite some time! Anything that is soft and squishy or has a squeaker in it only lasts about a minute with her. She'll grab it between her paws...rip a hole in it and remove the squeaker and pop it as quick as she can. That's all she wants with them....to kill the squeaker!...Show more

Elden Bardach: Stuffed toys made specifically for dogs are just fine, so I would just ignore tha! t bit of advice in your book.(And BTW: the authors may have been referr! ing to "regular" stuffed toys that a human would have, which in some cases can be dangerous for dogs because they are not made specifically for dogs. In other words: even though your baby probably wouldn't be able to chew the eyes off of her toy and eat all the stuffing out of it, your dog probably would; as such, you might want to find a more durable stuffed toy.)ADD: Ah, well if your dogs are allergic to stuffed toys, then I'd look at things such as Kongs, antlers (for chewing on), tire toys, wobbly balls, etc. My dog loves his "ball within a ball", which is basically exactly what it sounds like: a ball within a ball. The outer ball is hard plastic with three large holes in it (so that the dog can is enticed to try and get at the ball inside), whereas the smaller inner ball (which rolls around inside the outer ball and propels the toy all over the place), is made of soft plastic. My dog loves it; keeps him running around the house for hours....Show more

Merlin F! leischhacker: i didn't say it was wrong to give toys to dogs. my dogs can't have them because they have allergies.my dogs love their stuffies but if its gonna make my dogs scratch then i will ave to find something else for them.

Oswaldo Rayburn: Thanks everyone for tips, I'll be waiting for more answers to comeFor now, my mom doesn't want me to let him running around the house because of pee and poop. I've limited his free roam to one room but he appears to be sniffing around a lot and chewing on a sticker on a wire that says caution about electric shock =PHe also likes to hide under the big desk in the room and likes to lay on his blanket.

Billie Bratchett: I should mention it was for dogs with atopy.Duke has atopy.

Joaquin Dronko: Wouldn't common sense tell you to take him to the Vet?

Cuc Gire: Ya I don't think there is anything wrong with stuffed toys. Besides the fact that they don't last very long lol. My dog tears them apart in less than an ho! ur.You could get the rope toys, the rope/ball combo toys, kuzz balls; t! hey are made of rubber and sometimes come with a arms and feet, though the arms and feet don't last long either, tennis balls, oversized tennis balls. If he likes to play fetch you could by a "chuck-it," an extremely useful device! It allows you to throw a tennis ball over 150ft, even for myself. (I genuinely throw like a "girl")...Show more
