Toney Flaten: I'm sorry this doesn't even slightly convince me that god is real...
Nia Monopoli: Yes, I believe God wants us to use his personal name. He seems to have had a point telling it to us. Even before Moses stood at the burning bush, the Hebrews knew Godâs name. Why, the name of Mosesâ mother, Jochebed, incorporates Godâs personal name. The names of many of the prophets incorporate Godâs personal name. As you mentioned, his personal name appears in his own Bible â" the Hebrew scriptures â" literally thousands of times. In the prophetic book of Ezekiel alone, the phrase âand they will have to know that I am Jehovahâ appears about 69 times.Godâs personal name was used by the ancient Jews in daily living; hence, Ruth used it, Naomi used it. Even Boaz, Ruthâs future husband, used Godâs name in his greeting: âGood day, may Jehovah be with you.â The entire nation of Israel constituted a people for Godâs name. Why, even Exodus 9! :16 tells us why the True God had not yet destroyed Pharaoh: âIn order to have my name declared in all the earth.â Did that happen? According to Rahab, yes. It already had a good start. Consider, please, Joshua 2:10: â. . . because we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and ʽOg, whom you cut down without quarter.â The Tetragrammaton appears here. Rahab and her people did not hear about the Lord â" they heard about God by name! Some people have an issue over the pronunciation or the spelling. How curious While it is true that we do not know the vowels that go with the name, though Jehovah did not preserve the vowels (ancient Hebrew was consonantal; hence, you provided the vowels as you read), he did preserve the Tetragrammaton. Even so, the pronunciation would change from language to language anyway. Many peo! ple find it curious that although they see nothing wrong with ! refusing to use Godâs personal name, they have no qualms about using the personal names of the pagan gods. How sad â" and telling â" that is. As for the pronunciation, we do not correctly pronounce the name of our Lord and Savior. âJesusâ is certainly NOT the way his name was pronounced. Do you ever run into anyone who has a problem with saying âJesusâ? Jesus is a Latinized version of his name but it was not in use in the first century. Now we all KNOW how to pronounce his name in Hebrew or in Greek (Iesous). But we donât do that. Why do you suppose that is?Listen, the most common English pronunciation for the name of the God of Moses and Abraham is Jehovah. Given its numerous occurrences in the Hebrew, given the attitude of the ancient Jews respecting it, given the ease with which they used it, given the prominence God himself has given it, given the fact that our Lord Jesus made it the priority in his model prayer (Our Father, let YOUR name be made h! oly), and given everything I cannot write here for lack of time and space, it should be readily apparent to any reasoning mind that God wants his name - the name of the Sovereign Lord God Jehovah â" to be used. Yes, I personally believe that God wants his name to be used. To say otherwise is to flagrantly reject the very Bible in which He personally had it recorded. And yes, I use it. It is the name of the True God â" it is the name of my God. I am a Christian - one of Jehovah's Witnesses - a people called by his name.Hannah J Paul
Julee Lanham: If this story was part of Greek mythology, and it was Zeus who destroyed the tower and made everyone speak different languages, then the Christians would think it a stupid myth too.Why do we need this mythical story to explain why there are so many languages? New languages have been created in recent times -- consider Creole. Languages evolve, like life evolves. Diversity in languages is as natural as diversity of life! .Oh wait. Christians deny evolution of life too, so of course they deny! evolution of language too.
Gertrude Darke: I don't get your point. Jesus was a real person, as noted by other non-Christian historians and there exists evidence that there was a "great flood" in the area where the writers of the Bible existed. Your evidence is only evidence of those particular events. Take these facts out of context does not make the Bible in its entirety true. I'm sure in Hitler's Mein Kampf there were good and logical points, that does not mean I am going to hail Hitler and dedicate my soul to him. (Extreme example, but hopefully my point is clear.)...Show more
Flor Lizardi: Flush twice.
Lou Ravelo: Apparently we still have issues based on the rampant spelling errors everywhere. That aside, the tower of Babel is no different than David and Goliath or Noah's Ark. They are stories created in an attempt to learn and spread knowledge. We as a human race have evolved only because we have the bible, art, written works in general, architect! ure, science, etc. We learn from previous generations and hopefully advance on what they did. This is the reason you have a computer to use and a TV to watch. Insulting the long dead who scribed the Bible and gave the human race purpose to advance is silly. Read a bit of history on the times and try to empathize with their life and the realities they faced. Living to 30 was an accomplishment, having all your children survive past the age of 1 was an accomplishment, finding clean drinking water was an accomplishment...I could go on and on. You just need a good history lesson and maybe a sociology primer to understand the importance of the Bible. It's obvious you're not religious, so I won't even go there.
Lady Laflin: Fact they kept cutting off baby penis parts and some of the babies died. They noticed less died if they waited a few days. So there is your science.I just need to point out that the STD and Hygiene thing is pure BS. There is no hygiene or STD be! nefit. The hygiene things is myth based on those that do not have the p! arts and that do not understand them saying it is cleaner. It is not in any way cleaner. It actually may subject the cut male to foreign bacteria (many people have primitive ideas about hygiene and a misunderstanding of good and foreign bacteria issues). The Laumann study (USA, 1997), based on over 30,000 American men, showed no advantage to the circumcised group as to STDs. The most recent comparative study from Dunedin, New Zealand (cohort of about 500 men) backs this up, concluding: "Circumcision does not appear to shield men from most types of STDs in developed nations". "bacteria found in circumcised adolescents differed from the bacteria found in the uncircumcised adolescents" In other words, natural boys have natural bacteria and cut boys have different invasive bacteria.A study in the International Journal of Menâs Health noted that circumcised men have a 4.5 times greater chance of suffering from erectile dysfunction. than natural men. Other studies have previous! ly observed that circumcisionâs damage results in worsened erectile functioning, inability to maintain an erection, and reducing the glans sensitivity, including an overall penis sensitivity reduction by 75%. There are other studies as well..The knowledge of the this WOUNDING affecting sexual pleasure and function goes back years so there is NO IF as to SEXUAL HARM, it is a matter of HOW BAD IS IT for any particular guy. Maimonides (the Torah scholar) noted that the act that circumcision weakens the faculty of sexual excitement and diminishes the pleasure. Kellogg declared a âwar on masturbationâ at the end of the 19th century and advocated circumcision to curb male sexual urges by removing the main male pleasure zones. The zones have the only fine touch and stretch sensors. BTW there is clear evidence that Genisis was changed years after the bible was first written. Circumcision was introduced to the Hebrews by either Egypt or Babylon. From there it was a rather u! ncommon procedure until 500BCE, when the Hebrews returned to Israel and! Judea following the Captivity. The priests who set themselves up as the new ruling class wanted some ritual that would demonstrate the loyalty of men in the community to their regime. And what would serve that end better than seeing if they would offer up their most valuable possessions, their sons, to have their penises cut? Mind you, the risks of this procedure would have been a lot more prevalent 1500 years ago than they are today. Thus, the boys whose fathers were loyal to the priests and offered them up to be cut were welcomed into the community while those who were not are ostracized. The Egyptians did it to their slaves and then the the Jews did it as a sexual sacrifice (giving up some of the pleasure of sex). Not scientific just superstitions and creepy....Show more

Pei Heatherl! y: It doesn't tell us much about people 2000 years ago because it happened about 4500 years ago. BTW it is "Babel"Interestingly I was at a meeting at the University of Western Onatrio in which a group of scientists were discussing the cost of space travel and stating that the most expensive part of it is geting the spaceship the first 5 miles up into the air, after that it is realtively inexpensive. One serious option they were discussing was the idea of building a hugh tower up into the sky which would elevate the spaceship to the edge of space and they could decrease the cost of space travel by billions. STUPID ONES!!
Chris Rosenkranz: I like your work! Very impressive. I to use science from the BIBLE in my apologetic work. Genesis is an science book of many disciplines. First and foremost Biology. Genesis contains the historicity of our genetic material and case studies in human behaviour due to those genetic codes.Cain i! s the seed of the serpent/caveman and only half brother to A! bel. You now know what the original sin was. An sex act between the serpent/caveman and the woman. Study more of my work here to learn of this mystery. cain and his father the serpent/caveman gives us modern humans an common ancestor to the animal kingdom. Evolution through natural selection is taught in Genesis as just some of the how GOD created. Now concerning Astrophysics study creation on day four. Here is taught the mechanics of our planets motions. Science still doesn't understand why our planet spins and wobbles and circuits the sun the way it does. Read Genesis creation account of day four. Let these be for days and years and seasons and signs which is said about the creation of our solar system. Our solar system is an precisely built engine designed to cause our planets exact motions. When GOD said let there be light that is the ! big bang. Then you can see the birth of the laws of physics. GOD seperated the light from the darkness which we in science understand as the expansion.GOD as YOU say is the ultimate scientist. I am very proud of you and you are on the right path.JESUS BLESS THIS IN YOU AND GREATLY INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. I sort of loaded this up on you sorry for that. I wrote an paper on the first seven chapters of Genesis applying science too them. It takes me nearly 250,000 words to explain the first seven chapters of Genesis. The key is the mystery of the seed of the serpent/caveman. Go through my work here and see this mystery unfold. Again I like your work and hope to see more of that. Samara Siewers: "Prothrombin goes to 110% efficiency so it is perfect to perform circumcision."This statement cannot possibly! be scientific, since it's a mathematical impossibility for something t! o be greater than 100% efficient (in fact 100% is also mathematically impossible)...so I don't know what you mean by this....and did it ever occur to you that perhaps people were doing circumcisions at various different times after birth and that they merely observed that there is less bleeding if you wait 8 days as opposed to doing it immediately or waiting longer?? Wouldn't that explain why men said that's the time you should wait???...Show more
Bob Pucella: Sin is man trying to be divine. And if you think today we are without sin, look again. The over 4000 year old account of the Tower of Babble states that man trying to be divine has its consequence. And is man any different?Since you like the bible, let's focus on John 8:2-11. The conclusion is "go now and leave your life of sin". Of all the sinners, only one stayed. She could have slipped away after every other sinner had left, but she stay knowing that she could be condemn to death. She stay and waited to see ! if the last person would condemn her. I don't want to ruin the ending, but Jesus declared "Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin."Jesus did not forgive her sin, but ask her to leave her life of sin. And that probably what each of us should try to do.Do you think man has changed? Do you think we are any different? Are we less likely to judge? To live rigidly to a code of conduct? Nothing has change since Adam and Eve left in the garden.
Pasty Cobbett: Right. The Bible is full of "Scientific proofs" like:* The universe and the Earth and all life was made in 6 days.* The Earth is flat.* Rain comes from doors in the heavens.* People can come back to life after being dead for days....FACT #1: There's no good reason for circumcision.FACT #2: The evidence shows that Jesus Christ is just a mythical character and never existed....Show more
Isaias Badgley: It seems people in 2006 are not all that great either!!"the tower of babble"?? How abo! ut the Tower of Babel?"2000 years ago"?? How about more like 45! 00 years ago??Yes, Nimrod bar Cush was a bit stupid. God had promised He would not again destroy the earth with water; yet Nimrod decides to try to build a tower high enough that they could climb up it rather than getting drowned in another huge flood. Nimrod wanted to do things "his way" rather than "God's way". Guess people haven't changed much in some 4,500 years!! Still "insainly stupid" and "insanely stupid" too. I suppose you haven't ever seen those towers either?
Kizzy Hett: The bible also claims, repeatedly, that the Earth is FLAT.Strike Three !
Oscar Wieland: OK...so someone back then noticed that kids survive minor amputations if you do it after a week. How exactly does this prove anything regarding the gods?
Dewey Heersink: Are you intense? The bible is God's be conscious or regardless of and once you're saying "properly do no longer basically study that reason it won't make experience study the pupil's writing too" then you definately're sayi! ng the bible won't make experience and you need to no longer ought to study any pupil's writing's to comprehend the bible. The bible is meant to be the words to stay by skill of and in case you need to extra comprehend it with pupils writing's then you definately know on your heart the bible is organic crap.
Teodoro Lamond: This is for all those who have been constantly bothered by them. Bothered by their disturbing lack of logic (bloodless surgery....whats up with that?). And even a smile from your side gives them an invitation to propagate their senseless ideas. So how do you shoo them off, when their at your door?
Chanda Wittwer: Yes what a wonderful advantage god gave Abraham for becoming the father of a nation by having him and his descendents circumcised.
Hipolito Rightmire: type: God got mad and made everyone speak different religons

Carlton Lastrapes: It wasn't 2000 years ago, it was way back a few hundred years after the Flood, maybe 4 or 5000 years ago. They were building a tower to the heavens, not to heaven. Big difference. "To the heavens" means high up. They wanted to build the tower to satisfy their egos, to make a name for themselves, and they made God take a back seat. This primitive culture had the technology for an ultra-high tower, so they weren't all that stupid. They were Babylonians, so they did NOT write the Bible. Moses wrote Genesis much later, which is where the story comes from. Sacred Tradition was as important to the Hebrew people as was the written word, and truths were carefully preserved there as well. The bible is not a history book, but it does contain history. The Bible paints historical portraits, it does not give historical accounts. Big difference. It teaches truths, and it doesnt matter that nit-picking little details dont always historically match up.
! Rebeca Mckin: if you dont know what the tower of babble is; it is story! in the bible where people tried to build a tower to heaven, god god man and destoryed the tower and made everyone speak different languages. (yeah i know it sounds crazy) but anywaysto those of you who believe that story. Doesnt that tell you how insainly stupid people were back then. What kind of people would put together a plot to build a tower 100 miles straight up. STUPID ONES! and those where the people who had visions and wrote the bible. trustworthy source to huh?
David Kuper: The Tower of Babel is the model for the present day United Nations.People never learn.
Gabriel Realmuto: It's not really an issue for me, I don't answer my door unless I'm expecting someone.I find door to door proselytizing really offensive though, so I'm sometimes tempted to put up a "no soliciting or proselytizing" sign. Maybe I will one day.
Donnell Mollo: Sorry, but that is simply false. There's nothing at all scientific about the first example, and the second one ! isn't even slightly credible.
Logan Bero: Better read your Bible again. They weren't trying to build a tower to the literal heavens. God gave man the instructions to spread throughout the earth and populate it. People came to a valley plain as they traveled eastward and settled there, and the people said to one another let us build a tower to the heavens, just a tall tower to the sky, to keep the people together so they would not spread through all the earth, God destroyed the tower and gave all the peoples different languages so they could not understand each other and they would spread throughout the earth and populate it.
Antonia Quinnett: Christians in view of the fact that the Old Testament contains God's personal name yhwh 5900 times.Do you personally believe that God wants you to use his name?
Codi Manchel: Stupid? No. Uneducated? Yes. They didn't have, 2000 years ago, the same technology or knowledge we have today. They were small, insignificant pe! ople in a huge and vast world (not even including the cosmos - add that! and they're even smaller and more insignificant) and trying to make sense of everything they had no comprehension of. What makes the earth shake and rearrange the landscape? They blamed Gods, demi-Gods, and even super-humans because the mere concept of tectonic plates wasn't even a dot on the horizon yet. Why does a drought sudden occur? They didn't have any kind of comprehension that a volcanic eruption over 100 miles away could effect the climate where they are. They weren't stupid, they were living as best as they could in a world of mystery, miracles, and mayhem, and doing a damn fine job of it, in my opinion (except for the whole God thing). Besides, they knew how to spell, "B-A-B-E-L".
Buster Buchko: Im not a Jehova Witness but Im a christian, and Jehova Wittnesses twist around what God realy says in the Bible. But i Dont hate them or anything cause my aunt is a Jehova wittness.
Myesha Zerbe: I agree with most of what you're saying, but the "Big Bang" is ! not biblical at all. Genesis and other books clearly say that he spoke and it came to be. If there were a big bang, it would surely be mentioned much differently than, "God said, 'Let there be'."
Troy Staton: It tells me that after all this time, we havn't changed all that much.
